Top-Down Couch Co-op Dungeon Crawler

WDTS is a video game primarily influenced by 1980’s Arcade Gauntlet (& Gauntlet 2), with many modern video game influences.

It’s made for 1-4 people to play cooperatively as they explore a dangerous location and battle enemies.

It’s also my “love letter” to D&D. I started playing in the early 80’s when my grandmother bought me the Basic Set Red Box, and I’ve played every edition since.

No grinding, no reading, no math

It’s meant to be a simple arcade style pick-up-and-play game. If a level is too hard, there will be (hopefully) assists to keep you going.

There is an implied story, but it’s pretty loose and I’m not going to insist you read it.

There isn’t any choosing which weapon is best. The abilities are fixed per character.

(and yes, I enjoy all of those things in other contexts, but not for this game)

Progress

I’ve been working on this game since March 2016 after a little health scare that made me realize I shouldn’t keep putting off trying to make the game that had been in my head for years / decades.

Now 6 years later, I still enjoy building it, although would love to finish it someday. I don’t have a timeline, but I am getting fairly good at saying “no” to myself to avoid scope-creep. That said, it’s probably a few more years away.
